Mission: Zero Paper Waste

Professional Waste Managment

 From Crisis to Circularity

The world faces a massive logistical and environmental challenge: our waste is growing faster than our planet can cope with. Whilst we produced billions of tonnes of waste in 2020, forecasts indicate that this volume will have increased by as much as 50% by 2050. This explosive growth, driven by population growth and rising consumption, is forcing governments and the private sector to radically overhaul current systems.

To limit or even avoid the negative impact on the environment and public health, a transition to high-quality waste management is essential. This process encompasses the entire chain: from the careful collection and transport to the treatment, monitoring and regulation of waste streams. Whether it concerns organic, industrial or household waste, the aim is to separate materials to such an extent that only a minimal residue remains.

During this processing, various residual streams are generated in the form of solids, liquids or gases. The safety of people, animals and nature is always paramount. It is a field where logistics and ecology converge to keep the impact of our consumption manageable. In recent years, the focus within Waste Management has shifted from mere ‘disposal’ to reuse, recycling and recovery. This calls for a fundamental change in our view of materials: waste is not the end of the line, but a source of new raw materials.

Sustainability in the Workplace

Circular Workwear

Luan_rug_edited_edited.jpg

At the Verbo Group, we apply this vision down to the smallest details of our operations. A prime example of this is our recent switch to comfortable and sustainable workwear. In collaboration with Goodfuture Fair Workwear, we have chosen the T’riffic brand, which stands for 100% circular workwear.

T’riffic manufactures clothing made from 100% recycled polyester and a high-quality blend of 50% recycled textiles and 50% recycled PET polyester. To complete the look, the garments feature our company logo, so that our employees can proudly represent the Verbo Group’s identity.

This clothing is not only made from recycled raw materials, but is itself part of a circular system. Through a return logistics programme, worn-out clothing is collected and processed into new raw materials. In this way, we prevent textiles from ending up unnecessarily in landfill and close the loop. Our commitment to sustainability goes hand in hand with social responsibility. The workwear selected is produced under fair working conditions (Leader status within the Fair Wear Foundation).

The sun as a power source on our roof

To minimise the impact of our operational processes, the Verbo Group looks beyond waste streams alone. A crucial step in our sustainability journey is the transition to renewable energy. By fitting our business premises with hundreds of solar panels, we are now generating our own green electricity on a large scale.

This investment in solar energy enables us to directly reduce our carbon footprint and power our processes with clean energy from our own roof. It is a tangible result of our ambition not only to manage waste, but also to make the energy required for its processing more sustainable.

Electric on the Warehouse Floor

In addition to energy generation, we are focusing on making our internal logistics more sustainable. In line with our vision of a healthier living environment, we have taken significant steps by switching to electric forklift trucks. Where diesel or gas-powered trucks were previously used, we are now opting for an emission-free solution.

This electric fleet not only contributes to the reduction of harmful emissions but also directly improves the working environment. The forklifts are considerably quieter and emit no exhaust fumes in our warehouses, which benefits the safety and comfort of our employees. It is a logical step within an integrated Waste Management system in which transport and processing must be as clean as possible.
